A warning for anyone working on this problem: the landscape is extremely deceptive. Optimizers frequently report improvements that do not hold up under exact verification. Two-tier verification is essential — a fast numerical evaluator for the optimization loop, plus an exact symbolic verifier as a quality gate. Also watch for hidden sign changes far from the root cluster — they can invalidate apparently good solutions.
